ESSAY TOPIC 2012: “The importance of private consumption for a sustainable future”

 

APPLICATION PERIOD: 1st March to 31st May 2012
(an application form is only available during this period!)

Admission Criteria

The requirements for studying Consumer Affairs at TUM School of Management are a bachelor’s degree in socio-economics (e.g. business administration, economics and sociology) or in sciences/engineering and at least 30 ECTS in socio-economic courses (e.g. business administration, economics and sociology).
Additionally you have to account for good English proficiency.
Applicants fulfilling these criteria may take part in the aptitude assessment.

IMPORTANT: Applicants will not be able to send the application package by fax, e-mail, or electronically scanned. The applicant must print and sign the online application form and send all application documents by post.

  • application form: please visit our application website

    Please note: The applicatiopn must be sent online via the application AND as printed and signed version via post (both must be received by admission office until 31st May , otherwise the application is not valid).

  • authenticated copies of graduate degree (we need an official authenticated copy of your bachelor's certificate AND of the transcript of records. Next to the authenticated copies of the original documents you have to send a translated document if the certificate is not written in German or English). These documents must be received by the admission office until 31st May.
    If you haven't graduated yet: The copy of the graduation degree has to be handed in until 15th August. In this case applicants are requested to send their (preliminary) transcript of records (must be received by admission office until 31st May).

  • authenticated copy of an English language certificate (has to be handed in until 15th August), you can also ask the test centre to send the test report directly to the admission office of TUM (TOEFL code: 7806)
     
  • Motivation letter (recommended: 1 page, font size 12, to be uploaded as pdf on the application website AND to be printed for the print package you send by post)

  • CV (to be uploaded as pdf on the application website and to be printed for the print package you send by post):
    IMPORTANT:
    please include also information on:
    - living abroad
    - work experience/ internships related to Consumer Affairs
    - volunteer work
    - prizes/ awards
    - scholarships
    Please note that we can only consider activities if you also send an official proof (e.g. confirmation letters) via post (no scans!).

  • Essay (max. 2000 words, font size 12, to be uploaded as pdf on the application website and to be printed for the print package you send by post)

  • APS certificate: only applicants from China, Mongolia and Vietnam must submit a valid APS certificate from the German Embassy. Must be sent until 31st May.
     
  • Applicants from Georgia  must submit a valid ZAST certificate from the “Zeugnisanerkennungsstelle für den Freistaat Bayern”. zastby@zast.bayern.de (has to be sent until 31st May).

  1. Please apply only at TUM directly but NOT via UNI-Assist!
  2. For several reasons (e.g. visa, housing) we recommend international students to apply already in March (legal application deadline for all applicants is 31st May).
